Blockchain and the future of digital marketing: Enhancing trust, transparency, and transformation

Hema Harsha, Pushpa BV and S Sathyanarayana

Blockchain
technology is emerging as a powerful tool in the evolving field of digital
marketing. Known for its decentralized, transparent, and secure architecture,
it offers new possibilities for addressing key challenges such as data
accuracy, ad fraud, and consumer privacy. There is a need for trustworthy and
verifiable systems as marketing practices increasingly rely on data-driven
strategies. This study explores the transformative potential of blockchain
technology in the digital marketing landscape, focusing on its capacity to
enhance transparency, prevent fraud, protect consumer privacy, and foster brand
trust. In response to growing concerns around data integrity, privacy breaches,
and fraudulent digital practices, blockchain emerges as a decentralized and
secure solution capable of reshaping how marketers engage with consumers. Data
was collected through a structured questionnaire administered to individuals
across various age groups, industries, and levels of blockchain familiarity.
The data was tested for reliability and further analyzed using chi-square
tests, correlation, and regression.
The findings reveal a positive perception of
blockchain’s role in improving real-time data tracking, ensuring metric
authenticity, strengthening consumer trust, fraud detection, and secured data
privacy. However, significant adoption challenges exist for small and medium
enterprises (SMEs), primarily due to cost constraints, technical barriers, and
limited awareness.
By emphasizing blockchain’s practical benefits
through education, real-world use cases, and scalable solutions, marketers can
unlock its full potential. This research concludes that blockchain is
well-positioned to drive a more transparent, secure, and consumer-centric future
in digital marketing, provided key barriers are addressed through inclusive and
strategic efforts.
